May 15-18 Priorat Escape

Priorat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has become known as one of the world’s most unique and rewarding places to make powerful yet mineral-driven and food friendly wine. Perhaps no other wine region in the world so perfectly toes the line between ancient tradition and modern winemaking techniques. Especially when combined with a quest to partake of the many Catalonian specialties prepared by the world class chefs here and a very special tasting with our partner Terroir al Limit, an immersion via tasting is an epicurean traveler’s dream trip.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrivals. Get the lowdown on Priorat winemaking’s rich history and where it stands today in our orientation tasting in the hotel’s underground cellar. Then enjoy a fresh, creatively prepared dinner, where we will be joined by a next-gen local winemaker and her fabulous wines.

Day 2 | We’ll kick off our Priorat experience at one of the region’s finest: our winemaking partner Terroir al Limit. Winemakers Dominik and Tatjana will walk you through their innovative approach to crafting elegant, fresh Grenache- and Carignan-based wines that redefine the region’s style. We’ll then head up the mountain in 4x4s for a paella picnic with a view, also featuring the world’s best jamón ibérico and Terroir al Limit’s critically acclaimed wines. In our one-of-a-kind olfactory adventure led by Ernesto Collado, The Perfume Experience, we’ll explore the aromas of the local landscape and gain a deeper appreciation for how scent enhances wine tasting. We’ll finish our day dining like a local at Brot’s, a beloved winemaker’s retreat in the charming village of Poboleda.

Day 3 | Begin the day with a private guided tour of where it all began: the Scala Dei Carthusian Monastery, ending on the shady terrace of the Scala Dei winery for a tasting of the monks’ legacy. We’ll enjoy a relaxed lunch in the charming former wine co-op turned cozy restaurant, La Cooperativa, in Porrera. After rest and relaxation, we’ll end our adventure with a memorable dinner at La Bacchanal, a creatively transformed former stable in Falset. where we will be served a fresh seasonal dinner of local specialties paired with an impressive selection of wines from Priorat and beyond.
